to the new home of Orono Youth Hockey
Please register soon, as pre try-out clinics are starting soon! Here are some changes to this year's registration:
1) The optional $45 pre-tryout clinics with the high school coaches can be registered for within the normal registration process or separate. Last year it was only accessable as separate process.
2) For 10U & 12U Girls, they now have the option to Tryout for the A-team. If a player chooses to not participate in tryouts, that player will automatically get assigned to the B-team (we anticipate having both a 12UA and 12UB, and 10UA and 10UB team this year.
3) We negotiated a significant discount for all travel team players for Lance Pitlick's Sweet Hands stick handling training system. This is required during the registration process, and is only $3.99 per player vs. a normal charge of $79.99 from www.sweethockey.com. More information about how this training will be used, will be coming from the coaches when we start the year.
If you did not register for the optional high school coach clinics from 9/17 to 9/24, you can sign up seperately with the link below.
Orono Youth Hockey Association has maintained flat ice fees for the past several years. During that time, enhancements to our programs were made at various levels, including increasing ice 'touches' for our girls teams, increasing skill development sessions for all levels and implementation of the ADM model for our younger players. We undertook a significant analysis of the cost by level & associated average ice time by level by week over the full season. Based upon that analysis, other enhancements and changes, as well as planned average ice time for the coming year, the OYHA Board established the ice fees by level for the 2011-2012 year (reference to table below).
| Level | Age as of 7/1/2011 | Ice Fee | Registration Fee | Total Fee*** | Avg. Hrs/Week** |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bantam | 7/1/1996 - 6/30/1998 | $1,615 | $20 | $1,635 | 4.0 |
| PeeWee | 7/1/1998 - 6/30/2000 | $1,205 | $20 | $1,225 | 3.0 |
| Squirt | 7/1/2000 - 6/30/2002 | $975 | $20 | $995 | 2.3 |
| ADM 8-9 yr | 7/1/2002 - 6/30/2004 | $580 | $40* | $620 | 1.7 |
| ADM 5-7 yr | 7/1/2004 - 6/30/2007 | $355 | $40* | $395 | 1.7 |
| ADM new player | age varies | $149 | $40* | $189 | 1.7 |
| Girls 14U | 7/1/1996 - 6/30/1998 | $1,255 | $20 | $1,275 | 3.1 |
| Girls 12U | 7/1/1998 - 6/30/2000 | $1,205 | $20 | $1,225 | 3.0 |
| Girls 10U | 7/1/2000 - 6/30/2002 | $975 | $20 | $995 | 2.3 |
* Note that the registration fee for these levels continues to include $20 for 'slush fund' contribution (vs. collection by team/level representative) for the mid-season and yearend player jamboree events.
**Note the definition of average hours of ice per week is defined as follows: 1 solo hour of ice = 1.0 hour; 1.5 solo ice = 1.5 hours; 1 shared hour of ice by two teams = .5 hours; 1 shared 90 minutes of ice by two teams = .75 hours; Game/scrimmage of any type (home or away) that are one hour in length = .5 hours. As an example if a Squirt team has 1 solo practice, 2 shared practices and 1 game during a calendar week (and thus that team is 'on the ice' 4 times during the week) - that teams total ice time for that week = 2.5 hours.
*** Consistent with past years, for certain teams/levels, the OYHA Booster Board believes in hiring a non-parent head coach. The players on those teams contribute $100 towards that cost (which has historically been collected by the team manager during the season). If we have a level where all teams will have a non-parent head coach (such as Bantams) in a given year - that $100 contribution will be collected during registration vs. collected by the team manager, to eliminate that burden on team managers.
If you are a coach wanting to register, you need to go back to the home page and click on the Coaches Corner tab on the left side of the page.
Registration must be paid via credit /check card or through PayPal. Early registration fees for returning players are effective until 11:59pm on Friday September 9, 2011. Fees for returning players registering after this date will increase by $50.
Players must be four years old by June 30, 2011.

Registrar
Beginning last year, the Minnesota Hockey Participation rule will now allow players the option of essentially playing where they live OR where they go to school. Please click on the link below to read the rule as it is currently stated:
http://www.minnesotahockey.
Every registration will be verified before being processed. If it is found that a player is registered using a fraudulent address or fraudulent enrolled school listed, the player will not be allowed to play Orono Hockey and all ice fees and registration fees will be forfeited. A player, whose primary residence IS NOT located in Orono School District #278, and would like to play Orono Hockey may request a waiver from the hockey association that is located in the school district the player resides in.
1) Pay full registration amount at time of registration, or
2) Pay 1/3 of your ice fees at time of registration with the other 2 payments being due on October 1st and November 1st. Selecting this option adds a 3% processing fee to your fees.
Limited financial assistance is available. If you are interested in inquiring about assistance, please click on the Financial Assistance Tab on our home page for the Financial Assistance Application form. Financial assistance requests are reviewed by the Orono Hockey Association Executive Board.
Orono Youth Hockey Association is excited to participate in the ONE GOAL Hockey Equipment program by USA Hockey. This program was initiated to help encourage young players to participate in hockey without the expense of purchasing equipment.
Orono has 24 Equipment kits available for players new to Orono hockey. The kits are designed to fit youth 4-8 years old. Kits will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Kits include: shin pads, pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, and helmets with masks. Parents would need to purchase skates and a stick.
The equipment is of high quality. All equipment must be returned at the conclusion of the season.
If you are interested, please complete the application below and contact Matt Mesenburg at mattm@callawaygolf.com.
Accounts with 2010-2011 outstanding balances will not be processed until previous fees are paid in full (this includes ice fees, fall face-off, late registration fee and any other purchases not fully paid). Fees need to be paid in full prior to the player participating in any OYHA sponsored events for the current year..
