ORONO YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION MONTHLY MEMBER COMMUNICATION
November 2021
Congratulations to all of our players that have started their 2021-22 season! We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new families at our Mite levels and throughout our program. We are happy to have you. The rink is busy and it has been great to see everyone back. Good luck to our Junior Gold and High School players as they gear up for tryouts and their season. Go Spartans! Have a great season.

Positive Coaching Alliance
OYHA launched its three-year partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) with two nights of Second-Goal Parent workshops. More than one hundred OYHA households participated in the workshops to help kick off the upcoming season.
One of the key takeaways from the workshop for our parents was tips and tricks on how to successfully navigate the upcoming season and make the experience for their athletes the best it can be. The second goal parent leaves the coaching to the coaches while continuing the life lessons sports can teach off the ice.
The keys to a strong parent/child relationship
OYHA has a limited number of self-paced online courses available for parents who were not able to attend the live workshops. If you are interested in completing the course, please email Andrew Pillsbury at andrew.s.pillsbury@gmail.com for more details. You can find online resources from Positive Coaching Alliance at www.devzone.positivecoach.org.
OYHA Uniform Update
Game Jerseys
As many of you know, game jerseys are delayed due to many circumstances beyond our control, the most impactful cause is a shortage of labor to produce and truck drivers. As of today, our latest estimated arrival of game jerseys is slated for the week of December 3rd. Continued pressure is being applied to our supplier to expedite Orono Youth Hockey needs as we continue to keep OYHA updated. Once jerseys arrive, communication will be sent to Level Reps and Team Managers to facilitate and distribute jerseys. At this point, all team managers should have communicated jersey numbers and size. If you have not heard or seen what size or number your player will be, please reach out to your team manager.
Socks
Will be distributed in two waves based on the delay outlined on jerseys.
Wave #1:
1st year SQ, PW & BT socks have arrived at Morrison and will be distributed to your team manager.
Wave #2:
All remaining skaters will receive new socks and should arrive in about two weeks and be distributed by your team manager. Time will be set up once socks are received for pick-up at Morrison Ice Arena. More to come!
Team Managers
Please reach out to Erik Hovland to schedule pick-up of 1yr skater socks, available now.
Practice Jerseys
All skaters (SQ, PW & BT) will be receiving a new HockeYak practice jersey. Estimated arrival is likely the week of December 3rd, but will be similar to socks as we will have two waves of distribution.
Wave #1
Adult-sized practice jerseys (AS-AXL) were produced and shipped first based on supply. Once received, communication will be sent to team managers or coaches to schedule pick-up/distribution of jerseys.
Wave #2
Youth-sized practice jerseys (YS - YXL) are in process and are likely to be about 1 week behind wave #1, arriving Nov. 15th - 19th. Once received, communication will be sent to team managers or coaches to schedule pick-up/distribution of jerseys.
Thank you for your continued patience as we remain in unprecedented times of supply, labor, and shortages across all categories of products. While these circumstances are not ideal, please understand that everything we can do, and control is being done to ensure all players have a successful and fun Hockey Year!
DIBS
All families are required to volunteer time to support OYHA throughout the year. Each family is required to give 5 hours of time per child, with a 10 hour maximum per family. First time OYHA families are excluded for the first year. Follow the link to find out what opportunities are available. Dibs are updated on a regular basis throughout the year. You can also check with your Level Rep and/or Team Manager to also find out what DIBS hours are available with your team.
