Top 15s Selected for National Camps

By Minnesota Hockey, 06/23/17, 11:30PM CDT

Minnesota Hockey has announced the top boys and girls hockey players born in 2002 who have been selected to participate in USA Hockey’s National Player Development Camps this summer. The national camp serves as the final component of the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Programs and provides young players their first exposure to the best players from across the country at their age level.

“We’re excited to announce the players that will be representing Minnesota at the national camps this summer,” said High Performance Director, Mike MacMillan. “This is a great moment in each of their young careers. It will be an opportunity for them to train with and against the best players in the country.”

The Boys Select 15 Development Camp will be held the following week on July 15-19 at Northtown Center in Amherst, NY

The national camp participants were selected based on the players’ performance at the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Girls 15 and Boys 15 Summer Development Camps held the past two weeks in St. Cloud, MN.  The summer development camp provides a week of high intensity on- and off-ice training, classroom sessions and a series of speakers in addition to the evaluations.

The selectees and alternates for the Boys Select 15 camp will also participate in the CCM HP Boys 15 National Prep Camp on July 5-7 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN. For more details or to register, follow the Boys Select 15 link above.

The CCM HP Girls 15 National Prep Camp will not take place this summer due to the short time frame between the Independence Day holiday and the national camp.

The CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Programs are conducted in conjunction with USA Hockey and are referred to as “Select” programs in other parts of the country. The national festivals/camps are used by USA Hockey to identify the top performers in each age group for possible opportunities to represent the U.S.A. at advanced levels of national and international hockey competition.
