Coaching Information

To Coach This Season, Complete the Following Steps:

1)  REGISTER with USA Hockey

You must be registered with USA Hockey and have the confirmation number to complete the OYHA registration process.   See the USA Hockey website for details.

2) Register with orono youth hockey

Click the link below to start the online registration Process.   You must complete this registration process to be an Orono Youth Hockey Coach.

3)  Complete new online USA Hockey background/screening check

 

To coach, you must Complete the USA Hockey Screening Online Form.

When finished, forward the email receipt to ace@oronohockey.org.

If you receive a message saying "Per USA Hockey, screen is not required at this time", it means that you are current (screens are required every 2 years) and you do not need to complete this requirement for the 2022-23 season.


4) complete safesport training

 

This needs to be done PRIOR to ANY participation with youth players. Complete the SafeSport training every year. There is a refresher course available for those who need to re-certify.  You can re-certify up to 3x and then you take the core course again.

5) Complete required online age specific module

 

This needs to be done PRIOR to ANY participation with youth players. Complete required Online Age Specific Module.

6)  Complete Concussion training.

 

To coach, you must Complete Concussion training and submit the certificate. This needs to be done PRIOR to ANY participation with youth players. Concussion training needs to be done each year.

7) USA Hockey cep training clinic

Minnesota Hockey Requirements for Coaches

Mandatory helmets for on ice coaches.

Per Minnesota Hockey, you will NOT be allowed on the ice prior to having all forms completed. Minnesota Hockey has made two changes that necessitate getting the attached forms in process as soon as possible.

Prospective coaches will not be allowed to have any contact with players until the screening process has been completed.  Please get these completed and submitted as quickly as you can if you are interested in coaching.
